Un projet pour Paris\u00c0 nouveau et pour la premi\u00e8re fois depuis Le Pont-Neuf empaquet\u00e9 en 1985, uneintervention de l&#8217;artiste Christo \u00e0 Paris est r\u00e9alis\u00e9e sur un projet con\u00e7u il y a pr\u00e8s de 60 ans :l&#8217;empaquetage de l&#8217;Arc de triomphe, symbole de la Nation et de Paris.Cette oeuvre \u2013 imagin\u00e9e d\u00e8s 1962 \u2013 n\u00e9cessitera 25 000 m\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s de tissu recyclable enpolypropyl\u00e8ne argent bleut\u00e9 et 7 000 m\u00e8tres de corde rouge. L&#8217;Arc de triomphe empaquet\u00e9sera visible du 18 septembre au 3 octobre, apr\u00e8s une installation de deux mois.Pr\u00e9vu en septembre 2020, annul\u00e9 pour raison sanitaire, ce projet voit le jour en 2021,malgr\u00e9 la disparition de Christo, qui avait laiss\u00e9 toutes les consignes n\u00e9cessaires.1962 \u2013 2021 : la pers\u00e9v\u00e9ranceLeur oeuvre consiste en des projets monumentaux, temporaires et autofinanc\u00e9s en ville ouen pleine nature. De leurs projets, il demeure les travaux pr\u00e9paratoires de Christo \u2013collages, dessins et maquettes \u2013 qui figurent dans les plus grands mus\u00e9es et collectionspriv\u00e9es du monde.Ainsi, pour l&#8217;Arc de triomphe, les dessins pr\u00e9paratoires vont des ann\u00e9es 1960 \u00e0 nos jours :en 1961, trois ans apr\u00e8s leur rencontre \u00e0 Paris, Christo et Jeanne-Claude commencent \u00e0concevoir et cr\u00e9er des oeuvres temporaires pour l&#8217;espace public.
